Newly-promoted West Ham United make a £4million bid for Norwich striker Grant Holt, according to reports.

West Ham United have made a £4million bid for Norwich City striker Grant Holt, according to reports.

Holt, 31, recently expressed his desire to leave Carrow Road on Twitter after having a transfer request turned down by the club.

However, chief executive David McNally ruled out a possible move for the striker, saying that the club could not afford to replace him.

Paul Lambert's appointment as Aston Villa manager fuelled the ongoing speculation, as reports surfaced of Holt planning to follow his former manager to Villa Park.

However, it now appears that Villa have competition for the striker's services from newly-promoted West Ham.

Holt has been at Carrow Road for three seasons, scoring 70 goals in 129 appearances in that time, as well as winning the club's Player of the Year award in each of his three seasons, and being inducted into the club's Hall of Fame.
