Russell Martin calls on Norwich City fans for support

Russell Martin urges Norwich supporters to be the team's 12th man and help them avoid relegation this season.

Norwich City captain Russell Martin has urged supporters to get behind the team for the final six games of the campaign.

The Canaries suffered a hiccup in their relegation battle after losing 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, prompting a chorus of boos to ring around Carrow Road.

City sit just five points clear of the drop zone, and Martin has encouraged the fans to be the team's 12th man to improve the prospect of survival.

"We got booed off at the end, and everyone is entitled to their opinion," he told Sky Sports. "I spoke earlier this week about how good the fans are, and they are, but against West Brom was disappointing.

"This is now a time more than ever to stick together. It hurts us as players."

Norwich face another six-pointer next weekend by travelling to third-from-bottom Fulham.
