Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini laments sacking coaches

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini admits that he has spent more than €10 million as a result of firing coaches.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has revealed that he has spent more than €10m as a result of firing coaches.

The 71-year-old is regarded as one of the most impatient club presidents in Italian football and has often sacked coaches without giving them much time.

"If I thought about the money I've spent on coaches, I'd feel like shooting myself," he told Tuttosport.

"It must be more than €10m, as I've been firing people for 25 years. What really hurts me is that a factory worker won't earn €1m in his entire life, so we ought to give much less [money] to coaches.

"The wages should be a maximum of €100,000. It's ridiculous that working as a coach for three years means you never have to work again."

Zamparini has been the Palermo president since 2002.
