Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps played out a draw in their MLS Western Conference clash at JELD-WEN Field.
The home side started well and Frederic Piquionne tested the handling ability of David Ousted early on as the keeper was equal to his shot from distance.
Daigo Kobayashi came within inches of giving the Whitecaps the lead as he hit a volley first time from 25 yards which had Donovan Ricketts scrambling across his goal, but fortunately for the hosts it went just wide of the target.
After the break, Portland took the lead through Ryan Johnson as he headed Diego Valeri's pinpoint cross from the right over Ousted into the top corner.
However, the Whitecaps pulled themselves level in the 69th minute as Jordan Harvey rose highest in the penalty area to head Camilo Sanvezzo's corner into the net.
The Timbers thought that they had won the game late on when Pa-Modou Kah turned in Rodney Wallace's shot from close range only for him to be ruled offside.
Both teams searched for a winner but could not find the elusive killer goal, as the match ended all square.
