Half-Time Report: Edinson Cavani brace gives Paris Saint-Germain lead

Edinson Cavani scores twice to give Paris Saint-Germain a 2-1 lead over Bordeaux in their Ligue 1 clash at Parc des Princes.

Two goals from Edinson Cavani have given Paris Saint-Germain a 2-1 lead over Bordeaux in their Ligue 1 meeting at Parc des Princes.

The home side had the majority of the possession in the opening 25 minutes, but there were few chances for either side early in the first half.

However, the defending French champions broke the deadlock shortly before the half-hour mark when a mis-timed clearance fell to Cavani on the edge of the box, leaving the Uruguayan to coolly slot the ball into the back of the net.

The lead lasted for less than five minutes though as Wahbi Khazri forced a corner for the visitors, delivering it to set up Henri Saivet for a header at the near post.

Saivet cost Bordeaux moments later though as he brought Cavani down on the edge of the penalty area, giving the hosts a free kick, which the striker curled into the top left corner to restore PSG's lead.

Angel di Maria, who is making his first start for PSG this evening, could have added a third shortly before the interval, but he scuffed his shot straight at Cedric Carrasso.
