Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Lionel Messi is one of four first-team players to have tested positive for coronavirus.
Les Parisiens are scheduled to return to action on Monday following the winter break, with Vannes OC lying in wait in the Coupe de France.
Thilo Kehrer and Eric Ebimbe both contracted COVID-19 just before Christmas, and PSG have now revealed that Messi is now in isolation following a positive test.
"The 4 positive players for Covid-19 are Leo Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala. They currently respect isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol," a statement on PSG's website read.
PSG were hit with a coronavirus outbreak at the start of the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season - where they relinquished the title to Lille - while manager Mauricio Pochettino tested positive back in January 2021.
Julian Draxler and Sergio Ramos both returned from injury to take part in training on New Year's Day, but Neymar is still sidelined with his serious ankle problem.
