Carlo Ancelotti hails David Beckham's humility and believes that Paris Saint-Germain are losing a "fantastic" player.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that the club will be "losing a fantastic player" when David Beckham retires at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old English midfielder announced on Thursday that he will quit the game this month.

"We just have to respect his decision," Ligue1.com quotes Ancelotti as saying. "It's a tough decision to make, and he believes that it is the right time for him to stop.

"It's nice for him that he could decide for himself rather than being forced into the decision because he didn't have a club, or some other worry like that.

"PSG and the world are losing a fantastic player and a great guy. Now he and the club will arrive at some decisions about his future. In any case, he is and has always been so humble. That's his great quality, along with his passing game, of course..."

Beckham will play the final home game of his career tonight when PSG host Brest in Ligue 1.
