Paris Saint-Germain survive scare to sink Evian TG

Paris Saint-Germain score late goals to beat Evian 4-2 and move back within four points of Ligue 1 leaders Lyon.

Paris Saint-Germain recorded their first victory in four Ligue 1 outings after surviving a scare to beat Evian TG 4-2 at Parc de Princes this afternoon.

Goals from Javier Pastore and Edinson Cavani in the final 15 minutes helped the reigning champions to the points as they return to within four points of leaders Lyon.

Les Parisiens went into the clash with a bruised ego after suffering a shock 4-2 defeat at Bastia to plunge their bid of a third straight Ligue 1 title into further doubt.

Consequently, Laurent Blanc's side raced out of the traps in their bid for an early advantage and Thiago Silva headed Lucas's corner narrowly over the bar on three minutes.

Despite plenty of possession, the hosts toiled in the final third and the visitors took a surprise lead after 14 minutes when Cedric Barbosa's half-volley beat Salvatore Sirigu from outside the area.

PSG responded well, however, and forced opposition goalkeeper Benjamin Leroy into a string of superb saves. First, David Luiz was denied what looked a certain equaliser, before he reproduced his heroics minutes later to deny both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lucas from close range.

However, Luiz did not have to wait long to avenge his earlier miss, leaping highest to power his header past Leroy from a Lucas corner, before Marco Verratti volleyed home a second eight minutes later.

Unperturbed, Pascal Dupraz's side continued on in the same vein early in the second half and earned a deserved equaliser on 64 minutes when Gregory van der Wiel headed into his own net.

Ibrahimovic spurned a glorious chance to fire his side ahead once more, before Pastore spared his teammate's blushes by stroking home Lucas's cut-back for what looked like the winner on 75 minutes.

Blanc and co added a killer fourth late on, though, as second-half substitute Cavani tapped home Ibrahimovic's cross to seal their first league victory of 2015.
