Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes admits that he understands the reaction that had Djibril Cisse sent off earlier today.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has admitted that he understands Djibril Cisse's reaction to a challenge from Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Roger Johnson earlier today.

The French forward was sent off for grabbing Johnson around the neck after the two clashed at Loftus Road.

Hughes believes that Cisse's injury record played a part in his retaliation.

"It obviously played a hand in the result. We were in complete control and it looked like we could run away with the game before that," Hughes told BBC Sport.

"Djibril has raised his arm at first because he is disappointed with the challenge, as we all were and, with his history of broken legs, you can understand his reaction.

"But he wasn't sent off for that, he was sent off for what he did afterwards when he raised his hands again."

QPR lost the match 2-1.
