Neil Warnock backs Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for Queens Park Rangers success

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will help improve Queens Park Rangers' fortunes when taking over, according to current interim boss Neil Warnock.

Interim Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has insisted that incoming boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will take the club up another level.

The Hoops are expected to announce the appointment of the Dutchman prior to the weekend, having been granted permission to speak to him by current side Burton Albion.

Warnock has been placed in temporary charge of the West London outfit since Chris Ramsey's sacking exactly one month ago, but he is confident that Hasselbaink is the right man to take over full time.

"He set off with a good squad [at Burton] but took them up a level, and I think he can do that here," the experienced boss told talkSPORT.

"If we had won last week at Middlesbrough, which we should have done, we would have been two points behind the playoffs and I don't think there is anything to fear in this league. It is a great opportunity and a fabulous club.

"I think the squad only needs tweaking. There are probably a couple of positions that need a bit more strength in depth but there is a great chance of getting in the playoffs. And once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen."

QPR take on Reading at the Madejski Stadium this evening looking to close the gap on the playoff zone, which currently stands at five points.
