Rangers ended a difficult week with success on the pitch as they earned a 2-0 victory over Livingston in the Scottish Championship this afternoon.
A first-half goal from Fraser Aird and an own goal from Simon Mensing were enough for Ally McCoist's men at Ibrox.
Livingston were the first side to threaten as Daniel Mullen found himself with space inside the box, but Steve Simonsen produced a good stop down low.
Rangers moved ahead with what was their first real chance of the game as Darren McGregor picked out Aird, who tucked home into the bottom-left corner.
The hosts sought to double their advantage despite limited chances on goal, with both Ian Black and Aird coming close with attempts from distance.
Jordan White should have levelled the scores for Livingston on the stroke of half time, but his header from close range was somehow kept out by the lightning reactions of Simonsen.
The home side continued to dominate after the break and they almost cemented all three points when Aird saw his effort headed for the top corner, only to see Darren Jamieson pull off a full-stretch save.
That stop was not to matter too much, however, as Mensing turned the ball into his own net with just over 15 minutes to play, handing Rangers an important win at the end of a turbulent week off the field.
