The man leading the consortium in place to buy Rangers, Charles Green, has said that he has held talks with the agent of Gennaro Gattuso.
Gattuso, 34, left AC Milan, after more than ten years at the club and is now looking for a new home to ply his trade.
A return to former club Rangers has been touted as a possible move for the robust midfielder and Green is hopeful this can happen.
"To me, it's a massive positive he wants to come," said Green. "His agent came over and we explained the difficulties surrounding the club."
The Glasgow club will hope to overturn a transfer embargo after successfully having the case heard in civil court last month.
