Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has been ruled out of the Champions League final due to a thigh injury.
The 23-year-old sustained the muscle problem in training and will now miss the European showpiece in Milan, which pits Real against local rivals Atletico Madrid for the second time in the last two seasons.
The injury also puts Varane's hopes of representing France at Euro 2016 in jeopardy, with the host nation getting their campaign underway on June 10.
"After tests carried out today on the player Raphael Varane he has been diagnosed with a grade two injury in the left thigh muscle. His recovery will continue to be assessed," read a statement on the official Madrid website.
Varane has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this season.
