Real Madrid score two late goals to beat Manchester City 3-2 in their Champions League encounter.

Real Madrid have beaten Manchester City 3-2 in their Champions League group match this evening.

Madrid started the match well, with Joe Hart being forced to make two saves from Cristiano Ronaldo within the opening 12 minutes.

Gonzalo Higuain was the next to be denied by Hart, while Sami Khedira somehow put the rebound over the bar from six yards out.

Higuain had another chance to break the deadlock shortly before half time, having been found by Angel Di Maria's cross, but the striker blasted his volley over the crossbar.

Madrid continued to push forward in the second half, with Marcelo coming close with shots on three occasions.

It was City who took the lead against the run of play, however, as Yaya Toure embarked on a trademark run before finding Edin Dzeko, who beat Iker Casillas just five minutes after coming on as a sub.

They almost doubled the lead shortly afterwards when Carlos Tevez came inches away from converting a rebound after Casillas had parried Alexsandr Kolarov's cross.

Madrid got the equaliser with 15 minutes left on the clock when Marcelo finished off a counter-attack following Toure's chance at the other end.

City retook the lead with just five minutes left when Kolarov's free kick took a deflection off Xabi Alonso, leaving Casillas stranded.

Madrid responded immediately, however, as Karim Benzema turned smartly on the edge of the area before slotting the ball past Hart.

Ronaldo then completed a grandstand finish to the match by drilling his shot past Hart from a tight angle, snatching all three points for the hosts.
