Real Madrid bounce back from their weekend defeat to Barcelona by winning the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie at lower-league Ponferradina.

Real Madrid bounced back from their weekend El Clasico defeat to Barcelona by triumphing in their first game of this season's Copa del Rey.

Goals in either half from Jose Callejon and Cristiano Ronaldo gave Jose Mourinho's men a comfortable 2-0 win in the first leg of their fourth round tie at third division Ponferradina.

It was not all plain sailing for the visitors however, as they had to play the final 21 minutes with 10 men after defender Raul Albiol was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Real beat arch rivals Barca last season thanks to an extra-time header from Portuguese international Ronaldo.
