Real Madrid and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked his teammates after picking up this year's FIFA Ballon d'Or award.
Ronaldo was named as the best football player in the world for the second time in his career during this evening's ceremony, ending Lionel Messi's four-year reign.
An emotional Ronaldo received the award from Brazilian legend Pele and went on to thank those who have helped him reach the pinnacle of world football once again.
"First of all I have to say a great thanks to all of my team-mates with the club and the national team," Ronaldo said during the ceremony.
"Without all of their efforts this would not have been possible. I am very happy, it is very difficult to win this award.
"Everybody that has been involved with me on a personal level I have to thank. My wife, my friends, my son. It is a tremendously emotional moment. All I can say is thank you to everybody that has been involved."
Ronaldo, who scored 62 goals in 52 games for club and country in 2013, beat Messi and Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery to the prize.
