Gareth Bale passes Real Madrid medical

Gareth Bale passes a medical at Real Madrid after signing a six-year deal with the Spanish giants.

Gareth Bale has passed a medical ahead of being officially unveiled as a new Real Madrid player.

The 24-year-old Wales international winger signed a six-year deal with the Spanish giants from Tottenham Hotspur yesterday following a long-running transfer saga that began in May.

The prolific winger has now become the most expensive player in football history after a reported £85m fee was agreed, eclipsing the £80m paid by Madrid to Manchester United for former Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite suffering with a foot injury in pre-season, Madrid confirmed on their official Twitter account that Bale has passed the medical ahead of his official unveiling at the Santiago Bernabeu this afternoon.

Ahead of the medical, Bale thanked the Spurs fans on Twitter.
