Real Salt Lake kept up the pressure on FC Dallas at the top of the MLS Western Conference with a 4-1 win over Chivas USA.
The visitors took the lead in the fourth minute when Ned Grabavoy picked up the ball 30 yards from goal and drove into the box before firing a low left-footed shot into the net.
Kyle Beckerman almost added a second for Salt Lake but his volleyed effort was well saved by Dan Kennedy, while at the other end Eric Avila hit the crossbar for Chivas with a dipping effort.
After the break, Real doubled their lead when a ball over the top of the defence fell kindly for Joao Plata, who make no mistake in placing it past Kennedy into the bottom corner.
However, minutes later Chivas got a goal back through Jorge Villafana, who headed the ball across Nick Rimando into the bottom corner from Avila's deep cross into the penalty area.
Javier Morales almost made it three for Salt Lake as he tried to chip the ball over Kennedy from distance, but the keeper back-peddled quickly to tip his effort over the bar.
It was three minutes later, though, as Robbie Findlay converted from close range after he latched onto Yordany Alvarez's curled pass to the back post.
Salt Lake scored their fourth and secured the win as Grabavoy netted his second when he slotted the ball past Kennedy to earn his side the three points.
