Miralem Pjanić and Fernando Gago goals help Roma to a 2-1 victory over Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma kept touch with the leaders in Serie A by recording a 2-1 victory over Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico tonight.

The hosts' early pressure was rewarded when playmaker Miralem Pjanić gave them the lead after 25 minutes.

The Bosnian international finished powerfully from Rodrigo Taddei's low cross after the winger was put through by Daniel De Rossi's pass out wide.

Former Real Madrid player Fernando Gago doubled the Italian giants' advantage shortly after the break with a long range effort.

Despite rarely threatening throughout the match, the visitors pulled one back courtesy of Andrea Bertolacci.

The young striker beat the offside trap before flicking the ball over Roma keeper Maarten Stekelenburg to reduce the deficit with just over an hour played.

Pablo Osvaldo later had an effort ruled out for offside as the home team looked to secure victory but it proved not to be costly as Luis Enrique's side hung on to claim the three points.
