Manolo Gabbiadini fires Sampdoria past Atalanta

Sampdoria move up to third in the Serie A table following a 1-0 victory over Atalanta BC.

Sampdoria have continued their unbeaten start to the Serie A season by claiming a 1-0 win over Atalanta BC this afternoon.

Eder came close for the home side early on, but he could only place his effort from the edge of the box wide of the post.

Sampdoria then took the lead in the 35th minute when Manolo Gabbiadini raced onto Pedro Obiang's through-ball and slotted a low effort past the keeper.

They nearly grabbed a second just before the break, but Eder curled the ball wide of the far post from a tight angle.

Both teams struggled to create any clear-cut chances in the second half as Sampdoria held on to win their fourth game in the league and move up to third in the table.
