Sheffield Wednesday beat Nottingham Forest, Fernando Forestieri strike seals win

Fernando Forestieri's long-range shot gives Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Sheffield Wednesday have beaten Nottingham Forest 1-0 thanks to a thunderous strike from Fernando Forestieri.

Forestieri had pressured Dimitar Evtimov all game and his low shot from 25 yards out gave Wednesday the lead with 20 minutes remaining.

Both sides had cancelled each other out in the first half with Nelson Oliveira and Forestieri missing easy headers for their respective teams.

Wednesday then came close to a second after Jeremy Helan's pullback found Lucas Joao but the striker could only drag his shot wide.

The result sees Sheffield Wednesday move into eighth place in the league with Forest languishing behind in 17th position.
