Southampton boss Ronald Koeman: 'Leicester City deserved a point'

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman praises Leicester City's spirit to rally from two goals down to earn a point against his team in their Premier League match.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has conceded that Leicester City deserved to earn a point from their Premier League clash.

The Saints took a 2-0 lead in the first half through strikes from Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dijk, but Claudio Ranieri's men rallied in the second half as Jamie Vardy reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute.

The England international then continued his fine start to the season as he struck at the death to earn the Foxes a point at St Mary's Stadium.

Koeman told BBC Sport: "It was a difficult game. Defensively we did well in the first half and we scored from set pieces.

"But I expected a difficult second half because we know one of Leicester's strengths is unbelievable spirit and we have to be more clever.

"They deserved at least one point. They did two good changes after half-time. [Riyad] Mahrez created difficulties for us."

Southampton are eighth in the Premier League following their draw with Leicester.
