Tammy Abraham makes his Swansea City Premier League debut against Southampton this afternoon, while fellow new signing Roque Mesa is on the bench.

Paul Clement has opted not to involve Everton target Gylfi Sigurdsson in proceedings at St Mary's as his future remains unresolved.

Abraham - on loan from Chelsea - takes the place of Fernando Llorente, who is expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks following a cycling accident suffered on holiday.

Also out of contention through injury are Ki Sung-Yeung and Nathan Dyer.

Hosting Southampton are similarly missing a key player with an uncertain future as Virgil van Dijk is absent due to a virus.

Gracing the bench hoping for their Saints debuts are Jan Bednarek and Mario Lemina, as Mauricio Pellegrino tries to pull off an unprecedented Premier League opening-day home win for the club.

Southampton: Forster; Cedric, Stephens, Yoshida, Bertrand; Davis, Romeu; Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Redmond; Gabbiadini
Subs: Taylor, Bednarek, McQueen, Lemina, Boufal, Long, Austin

Swansea City: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson' Britton, Fer, Carroll, Routledge; Ayew, Abraham
Subs: Nordfeldt, Rangel, Bartley, Fulton, Roque Mesa, Narsingh, McBurnie
