Harrison Reed signs new four-year deal with Southampton

England youth international Harrison Reed signs a new four-year contract with Southampton.

Harrison Reed has committed his future to Southampton by signing a new four-year deal with the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder was introduced to the first-team squad by former head coach Mauricio Pochettino last year, and new manager Ronaldo Koeman has been impressed by what he has seen from the England youth international this summer.

"This is very good news. I think it is a positive signal to everybody that we have secured Harrison for another four years," Koeman told the club's official website. "We would like to keep all our good young players at Southampton, so I am very happy to be able to keep him here.

"Harrison has had some chances in the friendly matches this summer and has impressed me in those, along with the training sessions where he has shown his quality.

"He has good qualities and is a big talent. We know that he will develop himself even more as we progress, and will become a great player."

Reed came off the bench in the second half as Southampton continued their preparations for the new season with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
