Emmanuel Adebayor gives Tottenham a 1-0 half-time lead against Panathinaikos in this evening's vital Europa League clash at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur have a 1-0 half-time lead over Panathinaikos in this evening's Europa League clash at White Hart Lane.

Emmanuel Adebayor's goal on 29 minutes has seen Spurs put one foot in the last 32 of the competition.

Both teams showed attacking intent from the first whistle and it was the visitors who nearly took the lead in the 20th minute when Toche saw his effort saved by Brad Friedel following Giourkas Seitaridis's free kick.

However, Spurs went ahead nine minutes later as Adebayor calmly slotted in after Clint Dempsey's through ball.

Sandro tried his luck from long distance soon after, but the midfielder saw his drive fly off target.

Adebayor came close to doubling his side's lead in the final minutes of the half, only to see his shot snuffed out by the visiting defence.
