Tottenham Hotspur secure comfortable victory

Tottenham Hotspur secure a 5-0 victory over Dinamo Tbilisi in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier.

Tottenham Hotspur have thrashed Dinamo Tbilisi 5-0 in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier this evening.

Andre Villas-Boas's side brushed aside their opponents thanks to two Roberto Soldado strikes and goals from Andros Townsend, Paulinho and Danny Rose.

Spurs got off to a bright start and opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Townsend drilled a shot into the bottom corner from outside the penalty area.

Soldado went close to doubling the lead five minutes later but he was denied at close range by Giorgi Loria at the near post.

Two minutes before half time, Paulinho grabbed his first Spurs goal when he converted Townsend's cross from close range.

Tottenham continued to dominate proceedings after the break and Soldado made it three when he slotted home a simple finish from six yards after good work out wide by Townsend.

Danny Rose added a fourth on 64 minutes when he curled a first-time shot into the top corner after being fed the ball by Nacer Chadli. Soldado made it five just three minutes later when he tapped in Chadli's left-wing cross.

Harry Kane almost added a sixth with seven minutes remaining, but his effort struck the post and bounced away to safety.
