Tottenham's Eric Dier: 'Shot stats are irrelevant, we need to start winning'

Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier says that the club's attacking statistics are "irrelevant" if they are not winning games.

Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier has claimed that shot statistics are "irrelevant" if the team continue to draw matches.

After beating Manchester City 2-0 at the start of the month, Mauricio Pochettino's side have recorded three draws against West Bromwich Albion, Bournemouth and Leicester City in the Premier League.

At the weekend, Tottenham produced 22 shots, but Vincent Janssen's 44th-minute penalty was cancelled out by Ahmed Musa's goal.

Despite the positive attacking stats, Dier believes that the numbers are meaningless if the desired results are not achieved.

"We've got to stop talking about it and start doing something about it," Dier told the club's official website. "It's irrelevant to talk about it now. Every chance they had came from us and we have to limit the mistakes we make, because it led to their chances.

"We'll keep playing, keep improving the way we play and try to get better and try to start winning games because we're drawing too many."

Spurs are currently fifth in the league table, three points adrift of the top three.
