Roy Hodgson "more than satisfied" with Harry Kane's performance against Italy

England manager Roy Hodgson believes that Harry Kane will "gain a lot of benefit" from playing the full 90 minutes in Tuesday's draw against Italy in Turin.

Roy Hodgson has insisted that Harry Kane will take a great deal of confidence away from his breakthrough week on the international stage with England.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker was handed his first start in a Three Lions shirt in Tuesday night's 1-1 draw against Italy, just days after finding the net on his debut against Lithuania.

Despite being unable to match that goalscoring feat against the Azzurri in Turin, Hodgson believes that the youngster will have gained a lot of experience from his time in the Three Lions camp.

"I thought Harry Kane did very well," he is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo. "It wasn't an easy game, playing against three very experienced, tough defenders.

"He got helped a bit more when Wayne [Rooney] went up front, but I'm more than satisfied personally with his performance. It's been a good 10 days for him. He's scored on his debut and played 90 minutes of a tough game. He'll gain a lot of benefit from that."

Kane has now scored 30 goals in 45 appearances for club and country this season.
