Sir Chris Hoy confused with Chris Foy

Tottenham Hotspur supporters bombard Sir Chris Hoy with critical messages on Twitter, mistakenly believing that he is referee Chris Foy.

A large number of Tottenham Hotspur supporters have bombarded Sir Chris Hoy with critical messages on Twitter, mistakenly believing that he was referee Chris Foy.

Official Foy was slammed by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp for his performance during Tottenham's 2-1 loss to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Disgruntled Tottenham fans took to Twitter to air their views, however, they have been sending messages to Olympic gold medallist Hoy.

"Getting some rather amusing grief from Spurs fans!" Hoy said on his Twitter page.

"Just for the record 1) I don't need glasses and 2) I do not lead a double life as a ref. That's Chris Foy.

"On the plus side I've learned some new 4 letter words today."

Stoke boss Tony Pulis refused to discuss Foy after the final whistle.
