Norwich City midfielder Alex Tettey says that there was nothing wrong with his tackle on Gareth Bale, despite Andre Villas-Boas's criticism.

Norwich City midfielder Alex Tettey has hit back at Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas for criticising the player's tackle on Gareth Bale earlier this week.

The Spurs boss accused Tettey of almost breaking the Wales international's ankle during a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

"I just tried to tackle him," the Daily Star quotes Tettey as saying. "But he stayed on his feet and he was just too fast with the ball.

"What more could I do? There was nothing else I could have done. We have to let people know that teams cannot come to Norwich and expect to pick up easy points."

Villas-Boas also claimed that Bale needs more protection from referees.
