Wes Hoolahan gives Norwich City a 1-0 lead over Tottenham Hotspur after 45 minutes at Carrow Road.

Norwich City lead Tottenham Hotpsur by one goal at Carrow Road as the teams come in for the half-time break.

Gareth Bale went close to opening the scoring in the eighth minute, but he flicked Kyle Walker's near-post cross just wide of the goal.

Referee Michael Olivier had a decision to make when Grant Holt went down inside the area, complaining that Jan Vertonghen had tugged his shirt.

His protests were ignoroed, but the Canaries continued to put the pressure on Andre Villas-Boas's men.

The big striker was twice denied by Hugo Lloris before Wes Hoolahan broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute.

Sebastian Bassong could have made it 2-0 before half time as Norwich broke on the counter, but Moussa Dembele did enough to stop the former Spurs defender from making contact.

The Canaries were nearly punished for that miss, as Mark Bunn was called upon to stop Jermain Defoe from equalising.
