Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen expects "difficult" test against Newcastle United

Jan Vertonghen believes that Tottenham Hotspur will have to be on top of their game in order to get a result against Newcastle United this evening.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen believes that he and his teammates need to be at their "top level" in order to get a result against Newcastle United this evening.

The North London outfit will take on the Magpies at St James' Park following their 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane in November.

"The only thing I can remember is that St James' Park is a difficult place to go, everyone knows that and we will have to be at our top level to get three points there," Vertonghen told the club's official website.

"We lost that game and we all want to do better this time. They have good players and a good team but we do well away, we play with confidence and hopefully we can do the same on Wednesday night."

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League table, three points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool.
