Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas refuses to reject suggestions that the club are interested in signing David Villa from Barcelona.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has hinted that he is in the market for Barcelona striker David Villa.

The North London outfit have been linked with a move for the Spain international following reports that Barcelona are prepared to offload the 31-year-old.

While Tottenham's arch rivals Arsenal were thought to be interested in the striker during the January transfer window, recent speculation has suggested that Spurs are close to agreeing a £10m deal for the former Valencia forward.

"He is one of the world's best strikers," talkSPORT quotes Villa as saying. "What comes out of speculation at this time at Tottenham is very surreal because you know the club is very active in the last weeks of the transfer window, so you can see that speculation is growing. But at the moment we are focused on trying to get fourth spot."

Meanwhile, Spurs are just one point adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal with one game in the season left to play.
