Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks over the permanent transfer of Steven Pienaar.

Everton are reportedly in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over re-signing midfielder Steven Pienaar on a permanent basis.

The South African international moved to Spurs from Goodison Park in January 2011 but has struggled to make an impact at the North London club.

He then rejoined the Toffees on a loan deal for the second half of last season and recaptured the form which saw him originally attract the attention of the White Hart Lane outfit.

However, new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has informed chairman Daniel Levy that Pienaar does not feature in his plans, giving the go-ahead for a potential transfer.

Pienaar himself has expressed his desire to move back to Everton permanently and he may soon get his wish, with the two clubs in negotiations over an apparent £5m deal, according to Sky Sports News.

The transfer could be completed by the end of next week.
