Report: Jermain Defoe available for £6m

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly tell Queens Park Rangers that it will cost them £6m to sign Jermain Defoe this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur bosses have reportedly told Queens Park Rangers that it will cost them £6m to sign Jermain Defoe this summer.

The 30-year-old striker is no longer first choice at White Hart Lane following the big-money arrival of Roberto Soldado from Valencia.

QPR are reported to be willing to meet Spurs' asking price, but the deal is likely to hinge on whether the player himself can be convinced to move to Loftus Road.

According to the Daily Mail, Defoe will speak to England manager Roy Hodgson next week and ask him whether dropping down to the Championship would hamper his chances of being involved at next year's World Cup in Brazil.

Defoe scored 11 goals in 34 Premier League appearances last season.
