Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made their first move to tempt Toby Alderweireld into committing to a longer-term deal by offering to double his current salary.
The Belgium international recently revealed that he was "still waiting" for the Lilywhites to open discussions, having seen a number of his teammates put pen to paper in the past year.
It is suggested by The Mirror that Alderweireld now has the chance to join the club's highest band of earners, which Tottenham hope will persuade him to commit and put an end to speculation over his future.
Inter Milan and Manchester United are said to have been keeping an eye on developments, despite the centre-back still having three years to run on his existing terms.
Alderweireld is currently on £50,000 a week in North London, meaning that he will join Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris in earning a six-figure sum should he take up Tottenham's offer.
