Stoke boss Tony Pulis believes that two red cards ruined his side's Europa League win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis believes that his side's 3-0 Europa League win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv was ruined by two red cards.

The Potters' Cameron Jerome was shown a second yellow card for an elbow on Yoav Ziv in the first half, while Ziv himself was later sent off for hitting the linesman with a stray boot after he had kicked the air in frustration.

"I haven't seen it," Pulis told reporters. "I've just come in straight from the shower and I think we have just seen a game in the rugby World Cup semi-final ruined by a red card and we've seen two tonight and I think we just need a bit of common sense.

"24,000 people here tonight have come to watch a game of football and you have to show some respect to them. I haven't seen a bad challenge or a bad incident tonight yet we have seen two people sent off.

"I think the men in suits should start listening to people who know something about the game. It's getting a bit like netball, you have the ball and do what you can and you just have to stand in front and let people past you without making a challenge or a tackle."

The win at the Britannia Stadium has moved City to the top of Group E in the competition.
