Stoke City rest nine first-team players

Tony Pulis rests nine first-team players for Stoke's Europa League second leg at Valencia.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has left out nine first-team players for the second leg of his side's Europa League last-32 tie against Valencia.

The Potters go into the match at the Mestalla with a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.

Peter Crouch, Ryan Shawcross, Matthew Etherington and Jon Walters are just a few of the names who have not made the trip to Spain.

"We've left a few behind but the team I'll pick is what I think is a very strong team," said Pulis. "Every player that will start will be a full international, there are three captains of their countries and we'll be giving it a go."

The minimal nature of the squad means that the Premier League side will name only four of their seven allotted substitutes.
