Martin O'Neill: 'Sunderland in fine spirits'

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill reveals that his team travels to Manchester United this weekend in "fine spirits".

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that his team will travel to Manchester United this weekend in "very fine spirits" following Tuesday's win over Reading.

The Black Cats, who face United at Old Trafford on Saturday, moved out of the relegation zone in midweek as they saw off the Royals 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.

"We go to Old Trafford with Manchester United a number of points clear at the top, so it's a difficult game for us," O'Neill told the club's official website. "But the winning of the game during the week has given us that confidence boost and we go there in very fine spirits."

Sunderland's last victory against United at Old Trafford came 44 years ago.
