Costel Pantilimon believes that Sunderland are a team on the rise and is hopeful that he can help the club to "nice achievements" this season.
Pantilimon sealed a Bosman switch to the North-East outfit last month following three years with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 27-year-old claims that Black Cats boss Gus Poyet was instrumental in luring him to the Stadium of Light, where he believes "many good things" await him.
"I can tell you that it was a very quick transfer," he told Dolce Sport.
"I had discussions with the manager and I was convinced immediately by his way of seeing things, as he presented me with all of his future plans concerning the team.
"I am convinced that I will enjoy many good things here. The team may not be on the same level as Manchester City, but it is a team set to enjoy nice achievements."
The Romanian goalkeeper signed a four-year deal with Sunderland.
