MLS side Toronto have reportedly offered to send Jermain Defoe to Sunderland as part of a deal for Jozy Altidore.
The USA striker has been linked with a return to the MLS, with the Canadian side emerging as favourites to sign the 25-year-old.
According to The Shield Gazette, Toronto would need to offload Defoe in order to sign the American forward, and would be willing to swap the strikers.
Former England at Tottenham Hotspur forward Defoe has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs recently, including Queens Park Rangers and Hull City.
