Leon Britton: 'We learned a lot this season'

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton feels that the players at the club learned a lot during a tumultuous season at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton has expressed his belief that he and his teammates learned a lot during the season courtesy of their exploits in Europe and their battle against relegation.

The Swans reached the last 32 in the Europa League before they were defeated by Napoli and managed to haul themselves clear of relegation with a late run of form in the Premier League season.

Swansea also changed managers during the campaign as Michael Laudrup was sacked and replaced by Garry Monk, who has now become the club's new permanent boss.

Britton told the club's official website: "I think when you look at the season and see that we've reached the last 32 of the Europa League and finished 12th in the Premier League – that's got to be seen as a good campaign for us.

"The Europa League was a completely new experience for this club – not just the players – and while it was an amazing experience I think it took a lot out of us.

"I think we can learn a lot from a few sticky patches that we've gone through this season, while we also changed our manager too so that was another thing to deal with."

Monk's side finished their season on a high as they defeated Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.
