Michael Laudrup: 'I won't set targets'

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup insists that he will not set his side any targets ahead of the new season.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has revealed that he intends to take a "step-by-step" approach to the new campaign.

The Swans have made several summer signings and are one tie away from the group stages of the Europa League, but Laudrup believes that it would be wrong to set his squad any specific targets.

The 49-year-old told Wales Online: "You take it step by step, we have two domestic cup competitions plus the Europa League and the Premier League.

"We could set a target and say it would be nice to do this, but you cannot do that. Now we are at the playoffs and hopefully we can get to the group stage and have six group games.

"But you can only play one game at a time. When I was in this competition with Getafe, we had a terrible start to the league season but we picked up results in Europe against teams like Tottenham and Anderlecht. You don't know what can happen so you go step by step."

Swansea have been drawn against Romanian side Petrolul Ploiesti in the Europa League playoffs.
