Garry Monk: 'We were outfought in Leicester City loss'

Swansea manager Garry Monk is surprised that his side were "outfought" during their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has admitted that his side were "outfought" during their 2-0 defeat to Leicester City this afternoon.

Leonardo Ulloa and Andy King goals earned the Foxes a crucial win in their Premier League survival battle and inflicted a first loss in three on the Welsh club.

Monk was surprised that the Swans were not up for the battle and has suggested that it was the raucous King Power Stadium atmosphere, caused by successive Leicester wins prior to this weekend, which fazed them.

"We probably got outfought today which I haven't said too many times this season," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We knew with the crowd and recent results that the intensity would be high in first 20 minutes and we didn't really get a grip of it.

"Nelson Oliveira had a great chance and he did well to stay on his feet. If we had got a goal then the atmosphere would have changed."

Swansea remain eighth in the Premier League table on 47 points as they aim to reach 50 for the first time in the Premier League.
