Stoke City assistant Mark Bowen in line for Swansea City job?

Stoke City's assistant manager Mark Bowen emerges as a surprise contender for the Swansea City post.

Stoke City assistant manager Mark Bowen has emerged as a surprise contender for the managerial vacancy at Swansea City.

The Swans have been without a boss since owner Huw Jenkins sacked Garry Monk three weeks ago with the Welsh club sliding closer to the Premier League relegation zone.

According to The Mirror, 52-year-old Bowen "may be interested" in the Swansea post if an approach is made, although he is understood to be "fiercely loyal" to Mark Hughes's Potters, who are currently 11th in the Premier League.

Jenkins has considered a number of options, including former manager Brendan Rodgers, Gus Poyet and Marcelo Bielsa, but is not keen to rush the hunt for Monk's successor.

Alan Curtis, who is in temporary charge of the side while the search goes on, has overseen a loss, a draw and a win in his three games at the helm.
