Mark Hughes praises "tremendous" Stoke City

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes lauds his players for their "tremendous" performance after they take down Manchester United at the Britannia.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has heaped praise on his squad after they defeated Manchester United at the Britannia in Boxing Day's early kickoff.

Goals from Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic in the space of seven first-half minutes were enough to hand the Potters all three points and condemn Louis van Gaal's side to their fourth consecutive defeat.

Speaking after the match, Hughes hailed a "tremendous" result but suggested that his charges should have heaped more misery on the visitors.

"It was another tremendous performance from us, and at key times a very professional one I would suggest," he said.

"On another day we could have scored another goal or two so that is the only slight disappointment from today.

"To win the game 2-0 given the determination United would have had coming here today is hugely satisfying and I don't think anybody can have any complaints at the outcome of the game."

Stoke, who sit 11th in the Premier League table, next travel to Everton on Monday.
