Alan Curtis: 'Swansea City search for new manager is ongoing'

Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Curtis admits that he does not know how long it will take for the club to appoint a new permanent boss.

Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Curtis has admitted that he is unsure how long he will be in charge of the team for.

The Swans have been without a permanent boss since sacking Garry Monk earlier this month, leaving Curtis to take temporary charge for the matches against Manchester City and West Ham United.

Club chairman Huw Jenkins was reportedly in discussions with Marcelo Bielsa to take over at the Liberty Stadium, although that talk has since cooled and other targets, such as Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal, are now being identified.

As a result, Curtis is expected to be in the dugout for the upcoming double-header against West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace, and he insists that he is happy to carry on for as long as required.

"All I know is that's an ongoing process. I'm aware they are talking to people, but I guess it's a difficult time at Christmas. I don't know whether this situation will go on, but part of the equation would be if the performances carry on being decent and we win a couple of games then probably the need is not so great," he told reporters.

"If we lost a couple of games it might push for a quicker resolution. I spoke to the chairman briefly in the week and it's an ongoing scenario. The chairman will keep us abreast of things as and when there's information to give, but if there's no information we'll carry on regardless. I am quite happy to carry on for as long as it takes, whether it's for the weekend or a little bit further.

"We're preparing for the games ahead, against West Brom and Palace and even to Man United and the FA Cup game after that, but we know things change very quickly and a new manager might walk in at any time. We will do what it takes for the club to continue to show the improvement on the field and perhaps more importantly picking up points as well."

Swansea will spend Christmas in the relegation zone having won just one of their 13 Premier League games since August.
