Swansea City cruise to victory over Queens Park Rangers

Michu scores twice as Swansea City record a comfortable 4-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Michu scored twice as Swansea City thrashed Queens Park Rangers 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts started impressively and took the lead in the eighth minute when Nathan Dyer's effort was pushed into the path of Michu by Julio Cesar, leaving the striker with the simple task of tapping the ball in from close range.

QPR struggled to settle following the goal and it was Michael Laudrup's side who looked more likely to score the second of the game, with Michu being denied by a good save by Cesar.

Angel Rangel doubled his side's lead in the 18th minute by slotting home after seeing his original effort blocked by QPR's Brazilian goalkeeper.

Swansea enjoyed almost complete domination heading into the break but the game was changed following two half-time substitutions.

Bobby Zamora and Esteban Granero were introduced to the action by Harry Redknapp and it was the former who pulled a goal back for the visitors by reacting quickest to a Michel Vorm save from Adel Taarabt's effort.

However, QPR's revival was short-lived as Pablo Hernandez restored Swansea's two-goal lead in the 50th minute with a fine solo run before a low finish under the body of Cesar.

The visitors continued to push for a way back into the game despite the setback and Stephane Mbia went close when his powerful strike was cleared off the line by Kyle Bartley.

Swansea made sure of the three points thanks to a second goal from Michu, the Spaniard easily poking the ball past Cesar following a perfectly timed through ball by Hernandez.

The fourth goal ended QPR's hopes and Swansea were able to relax as they cruised to victory.
