League One roundup: Peterborough United, Leyton Orient maintain perfect starts

Peterborough United and Leyton Orient have both prolonged their perfect starts to the League One campaign, while Brentford and Bradford City also recorded victories.

Peterborough United prolonged their perfect start to the League One campaign with a 5-0 thumping of Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

Posh raced into a 3-0 half-time lead over the Superwhites, before goals from club-record signing Britt Assombalonga - his fourth in as many games for his new club - and Mark Little added gloss to the scoreline in the second half.

Darren Ferguson's men sit in second place in England's third tier behind Leyton Orient, as Russell Slade also watched his charges preserve their 100% record in the competition with a 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra at the Matchroom Stadium.

Moses Odubajo fired the hosts into the lead after just seven minutes, before David Mooney spared Kevin Lisbie's blushes by scoring from the penalty spot, after the former Charlton Athletic striker had previously fluffed his lines from 12 yards.

Meanwhile, Brentford kept within touching distance of the peloton with a 1-0 victory over Walsall at Griffin Park, with Clayton Donaldson's 42nd-minute strike sufficient for the Bees.

Bradford City bounced back from defeat at Port Vale last week to record a comfortable 2-0 win over Sheffield United, with in-form striker Nahki Wells scoring at the end of either half to secure the points.

Elsewhere, Stevenage left it late to secure victory against Notts County, as James Dunne's last-gasp strike denied the Magpies what would have been only their second point of the season thus far.

Meanwhile, MK Dons, twice recovered from a goal deficit for the second week in succession to earn a point at home to lowly Bristol City.

Results in full: Bradford City 2-0 Sheffield United, Brentford 1-0 Walsall, Leyton Orient 2-0 Crewe Alexandra, MK Dons 2-2 Bristol City, Notts Couty 0-1 Stevenage, Oldham Athletic 3-1 Port Vale, Rotherham United 2-2 Shrewsbury Town, Swindon 2-2 Gillingham, Tranmere Rovers 0-5 Peterborough United.
