Argentine playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme reiterates that he will not play for Boca Juniors and passes the baton to teenager Leandro Paredes.

Argentine playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has reiterated that he will not play for Boca Juniors again.

The 34-year-old is officially on unpaid leave and is free to sign for any club outside Argentina after having his contract with Boca suspended.

"I've left the club and I'm happy with my decision," said Riquelme. "My last match was a Copa Libertadores final."

Riquelme also hit back at Argentine legend Diego Maradona for claiming that he lacks motivation.

"I'm not interested in whatever he says," he said. "I won three [Copa Libertadores] and I lost that last one which I also wanted to win.

"I'm a man who always keeps his word. I have fulfilled all my dreams as a player. From now on I'll just be a Boca fan and I'll wish them well.

"Now it's time for Leandro Paredes to shine. He is 18 years old and is a great player. I don't want to stay and stand in his way."

Brazilian club Santos are reported to be interested in signing Riquelme.
